Kathy joined 1st American Management in 2019 as a part-time assistant. In 2020, she became a full-time, on-site Property Manager for Shorewood Forest. Kathy has several years’ experience as a property manager and completed the M-100 class to receive a Community Associations Institute Certificate. Prior to coming to 1 st American, Kathy was the Administrative Assistant/Treasurer for Hayes Leonard Elementary for 20 years. Outside of work, she is active in her church, a Facilitator for Compassionate Friends, a Gallop Strengthfinders Coach, and involved with LakeShore Paws special events.
Barbara Kortokrax
Barb has been with 1st American Management since April 1, 2020. Prior to this position, she was hired by Shorewood Forest POA in 2017 as an Administrative Assistant. She is currently responsible for scheduling clubhouse and pavilion rentals and preparing those agreements; assisting with boat registrations, dock leases, preparing welcome packets for new residents, and compiling information and soliciting for advertising in the bi-monthly Shorelines publication.
Her prior work experience highlights her involvement in local government for 20 years. Barb started out working in accounts payable/receivable, transitioned to the Building Department and had the titles of Secretary, Administrator, and then Director of Building, Planning, and Zoning. During those years she continued as Recording Secretary for the Plan Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals. Her last achievement in government was Deputy Clerk-Treasurer.
In addition, Barb earned the Indiana League Municipal Clerk-Treasurer Certificate (i.e. “ILMCT’) and received a Certificate for completing the Annual ILMCT Institute and Academy at Ball State.
In her free time, Barb enjoys spending time with her family and seven grandchildren. She is a member of American Legion Post 20 and the Blues Steel Blues Society. She enjoys volunteering through her church and at the Food Bank at Northwest Indiana.
Jennifer Rivas
Jennifer Rivas joined 1st American Management in June of 2021 as an Administrative Assistant. In her role, she assists multiple departments and shares her skills between our main location and the Shorewood office. Jennifer studied at Indiana University Northwest with a focus on Criminal Justice. She has 25+ years of experience as a previous business owner, office manager, and director of human resources. Jennifer is a lifelong NWI resident and is happy to be a part of a great company.
